Throw It In Your Mouth
Oh mon amour I’m in Namur. Summer holidays are nearly over but the fezzie season is puking and screaming till the embers on yr campfire die out. And so it is that the kingdom of Seabearia sends forth her loyal subjects to make a thorough inspection of some of the catering tents and portaloos that make these events so memorable. 4 shows in four days with majestic mileage mountains to succumb.
Band flew to Luxembourg which is new hideaway kingdom for stars of gutter press. No hack would ever cross border into this insipid land. Diesel is the cheapest in all europe…result. First show is at Haldern Pop Festival. Haldern is a small village situated in west of Germany near the Dutch border. Quaint and refined, the locals welcome all with open arms and the farmers reap the harvest whilst the youth carry their cases of ale to their hole in the ground in preparation for a weekend of fine music and high shenanigans. The festival has existed for 27 years and the organisers have only allowed 6000 people to buy tickets every year, despite the enormous popularity of the festival. Promoters with ethics….my ears are bleeding! But its true. And to boot, all the people who work at the festival are some of the most friendly and helpful staff you could possibly hope to meet. Show is a great success…..2000 people jampacked into the Spiegel tent sweat out their love for the band. Orn Ingi plays some of his jazziest licks in years…playing so free and improvised after being inspired by the amber nectar all afternoon. Catch Beach House earlier in the evening who are just poptastic! Their jams are peachy and tight! Singer has a voice to kill for.
So tonight’s show is in Namur in a beautiful theatre. Soundcheck was reverb nightmare. But hey….it’ll be packed tonight….these guys are HUGE in southern Belgium. Outta here!
